DEUTSCH Products Guide

The DEUTSCH brand is known for their high quality and reliable products. With multiple series’ available, things can get a little confusing when deciding which one is right for you. Check out this handy guide below for tips on choosing the perfect DEUTSCH products!

DEUTSCH DT Series

The main components of the DEUTSCH DT Series are the plug, receptacle, plug wedge, receptacle wedge and contacts. In this specific series, you will need pin and socket contacts corresponding to how many wires you will be using. The DT Series offers plugs and receptacles with 2, 3, 4, 6, and 8 15064100_primary.jpgopenings as well as 12 openings. Depending on your project and amount of wires needed, you will determine how many “ways” you will need your plug and receptacle. Need 5 wires? No worries! DEUTSCH also offers sealing plugs to make sure each cavity is filled. For example, a 6 way plug could be used with one sealing plug to accommodate your 5 wire need!

The DT Series is made with thermoplastic housings, silicone rear wire, and interface seals. This makes them extremely durable including the ability to withstand water as well as high temperatures, all the way up to 257F! You can also depend on the DT Series in order to make it through the continuation of your project. They have been tested to show no defects even after 100 cycles of engagement and disengagement. They also feature an integrated latch for mating so that you can easily assemble the series.

DEUTSCH DTM Series

The DEUTSCH DTM Series is very similar to the DT Series in the fact that they have the same pieces. You will still need a plug, receptacle, plug wedge, receptacle wedge, and contacts. The main difference with this series is the sizing. These connectors are designed for smaller gauge applications. Even though they are small, they are still mighty! They can withstand moisture andm_15042100_primary.jpg high temperatures well as showing durability throughout 100 cycles of engagement and disengagement.

The DTM series is still made with thermoplastic housings, silicone rear wire, and interface seals. These can be purchased in 2, 4, 6, 8, or 12 openings with sealing plugs available for customization. If you are looking for durability and quality connectors for smaller gauges, this is the product for you!

DEUTSCH DTP Series

If you are looking for a quality DEUTSCH product for higher amp applications, the DTP series is the one for you! Like the DT/DTM series, you will need a plug, receptacle, plug wedge, receptacle 15082100_primary.jpgwedge, and contacts. The DTP Series came after the DT/DTM series, so it was able to build on the original design. Still providing the durability you need, this series can use multiple 12 size contacts as well as 25 amp continuous capacities. This is an easier solution with just one shell harboring the entire connector.

The DTP Series looks similar to the DTM Series except slightly bigger. As of right now, the DTP Series is only offered in 2 and 4 pin configurations. Although this may provide fewer options, it can handle a higher power job. Like its siblings the DT/DTM Series, it is able to withstand moisture as well as temperatures up to 257F.

DEUTSCH DTHD Series

The DEUTSCH DTHD Series has more differences from the DT/DTM/DTP discussed before. This series does not require wedges, and instead is assembled using just a plug, receptacle, and 15991202_alt.jpgcontacts. These are single terminal connectors, so you will not see the multiple “ways” for contacts as you would see in the other DT Series. Instead, this series provides multiple wire sizes that are compatible with the connector.

As would be expected, assembly of the DTHD series is less complicated because there are fewer parts. Although these are fewer parts, this series was still created for heavy duty applications. The three sizes of the DTHD Series can vary to accommodate 25-100 amps. They are very frequently used for high power connections such as ground power or a main power source. As with the other series’, it can withstand moisture and very high temperatures. If you are looking for a heavy-duty, single terminal connector, the DTHD Series has everything you are looking for in a connector.

DEUTSCH Jiffy Splice

Just by looking at the Jiffy Splice, you might not even assume it is a DEUTSCH product. A Jiffy Splice is a red, single terminal connector with two cavities. Inside of this silicone elastomer jacket is a 15000012_primary.jpgcontact retention system that mates two contacts. In this case, you will need both a pin and a socket contact. A heavy selling point of this product is its easy installation. Each cavity is not pre-labeled, so as long as one contact is added to each side, the mated contacts will be secured.

There is no doubting that a Jiffy Splice is unique. It is seen as a field-serviceable alternative to other permanent splices. Being made with the same high quality material as the other DEUTSCH connector seals, the Jiffy Splice can still be relied on for tough jobs. It can withstand approximately three feet of water immersion and has a high operating temperature. If you need a quick fix, single terminal for harsh environmental condition, the Jiffy Splice is for you!
